How would U Rate this?

Be it Shakespeare or contemporary theater, performance art has to be immediate and 'alive'. A good show is when audiences get to see themselves in the art piece, or manage to connect emotionally with the characters in a play. After all, theater is fictional. It is about seeing.

In theater, there's the playwright, the drama conventions and language used, actors, director, producer, designers, and not to forget, the critics or viewpoints they give. In order to come around, it goes around first.


When I was at HangZhou, I watched a magnificent play gracefully entitled The Romance of The Song Dynasty.


Cast and Crew.

The plot of this melodrama doesn't flow smoothly. Granted the director knows what he's doing, but the playwright seems to be too greedy by incorporating everything he knows about experimental theater into his piece.

He focuses more on lighting design, and relies too much on the colors and patterns of lights to lead or trigger a change of scene. A good play should rely on the script itself and not moved by lights or music.


We have lanterns coming down above our heads.

Religion, ritual, and theater.


Dancers / performers emerging from the back front stage.


Very royal.


Costumes are magnificently done.


There's even Lumiere (the candlestick from Beauty & the Beast) showing off HER acrobatic moves.


Just as I wonder what has all that gotta do with Emperor Song, the story emerges.


There is real fire burning inside the theater.


A fuckin' real galloping horse on stage!!! I think I hear everyone's eyeballs fall out.


And so he dies and here comes his wife bathing him in her priceless tears.


And now he has the energy to continue the battle. @@"


The story should end here, but I think the team came to a conclusion earlier that they were reluctant about ending the play so soon.

There's even waterfall in the theater! Can you imagine how they manage this? No one gets wet during the show and it IS real waterfall~!

I can't remember what are these women for.


Bollywood dance. I'm SERIOUS.


Korean dance also got.


Audiences participation. All for the sake of pleasing each and every individual tourists from different countries and cultural backgrounds.


It says, "Give me a day and I'll give you back 10000 years."


How many out of 5 stars do you think you would give this performance? I mean, certainly the terribly elaborated costumes and lighting techs deserve some credits..... =P

It's true. I'm trying my best to finish blogging up small events before the humongous ones come in.

This event below happened before my 2ND trip to Hobart last holiday, which is also an event I'm sure almost EVERYONE had done. -Watch Transformers.

I KNOW, I KNOW~ It's been some time... But who cares~ It's my 1ST movie @ Launceston after 6 months here OK!? & first times are always worth treasured in the heart and soul mar..... hahahaha!

Well, I wanted to buy them BADDDDLYYYY but I was pretty sick the other day so... I planned to have them when I watch Simpsons The Movie!!!

You know why?

Cuz the yellow popcorn looks like the Simpsons species skin color. Well it reminds me of that, at least! It makes sense?!@#$%^&*

I don't know WHY, but I chose the color PURPLE to compliment TRANSFORMERS!

Errr..... I was eggplant-ed : purple shirt, purple shoes, purple bag, and then even the Supre' lady gave me a PURPLE shopping bag which is down there on the floor! Gosh~! Even the walls are purple now! & carpets too!!!




The theater has red curtains covering the screen before the showing!

Now, YOU tell ME : Which cinema in Malaysia has this? *muahahaha!*

Transformers lasted for about 2 hours and 15 minutes. When we entered the cinema it was day, and when we came out it was night.

Blame winter.

It was just what? 5? 6 p.m?

Anyway, Transformers is good. Love it. Heart it. Just like everyone, DON'T MIND watching it again~! lol!

Had this for dinner before going to Dylon's house to watch a horror movie from UK (can't remember the name, Sorry!), and then, to Felix's house to watch Wrong Turn and Mr. Bean's Holiday.

= 4 MOVIES in a ROW ! ! ! !

It's like "cap fan" back @ Malaysia - 8 dollars = 24 ringgitsss for a plate of CAP fan. Really cap. =.=

Mind you, this tasted awful, smelt like chlorine, and all of us hated it.

This band plays everywhere in clubs @ Launceston and they play all sort of music, except for R&B. =.=
Anyhow, we still had fun!

I actually had a rainbow projected over the dolls in cages, but you can't really see them as this is under the "pre-show" light. But if you look closely enough, you'll see that the first and third cages are in yellowish-blue hue? Yup, that's The Rainbow!

Charles also had his on for Kai's show from Samuel Beckett. He even had eye liner on and shaved his head bald just for this show!
